I loved Lego as a kid. Who didn’t! And I couldn’t think of a more fun way for people to learn about some great historical figures, than through little pieces of plastic. Beware…not suitable for children due to small parts!
AKHENATEN – Pharaoh
Not only can he carry off a great headdress…but Akhenaten also changed a few things up in Egypt. He established a new religion and created a new capital city (although it didn’t really catch on…). You probably know his wife better, Nefertiti.

Richard was a king of England, later known as the ‘Lion Heart’. He was famous for his exploits in the Third Crusade, although during his 10-year reign he only spent only six months in England. He was played by the great Sean Connery in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Joan of Arc, nicknamed “The Maid of Orléans” is a folk herione of France and a Saint. She was born a peasant girl in France, and claimed divine guidance to led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years War. She was burnt for heresy by the English – we are a nation of spoilsports…

John Milton was an English poet and a scholarly. He was also a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his poem; Paradise Lost.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the USA, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in 1865. Lincoln led the United States through its greatest constitutional, military, and moral crisis, the American Civil War. He abolished slavery and strengthened the national government. Oh, and he had a fabulous beard!

MARIE CURIE – Scientist
Marie Curie was a Polish-born physicist and chemist and one of the most famous scientists of her time. Together with her husband Pierre, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1903, and she went on to win another in 1911.

Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel was an American mobster with the Genovese crime family. Nicknamed “Bugsy”, Siegel was known as one of the most “infamous and feared gangsters of his day”. Described as handsome and charismatic, he became one of the first front-page-celebrity gangsters.
